🌿 We’re Hiring: Medical Herbalist

Location: Duncan, BC (In-Person + Virtual)
Start Date: May 2025
Time Commitment: ~20–25 hours/week

  • ~15 hours/week in-person
  • ~5–10 hours/week virtual
  • Compensation: $25/hour to start, with a wage increase after a 3-month probation period.
  • Includes practitioner training and opportunity for client 1:1 consultations, and workshop facilitation.

About Us

Ancient Origins Medicinals is a herbal dispensary, clinic, and organic farm rooted in ancestral wisdom, earth-based healing, and the sacred relationship between people and plants.

We’re currently seeking a skilled, grounded, and organized Medical Herbalist who is passionate about herbal medicine, people, and healing. This role begins with managing our apothecary and offers a clear pathway into clinical practice through mentorship and training.


Position Overview

This is a dynamic and evolving position that blends apothecary and administrative work with opportunities to grow into clinical practice. It’s ideal for a practitioner who thrives in both creative and structured environments and feels called to community-rooted, heart-centered herbalism.


Apothecary Responsibilities

  • Fill custom herbal orders for practitioners, our online store, and wholesale clients
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and batch tracking (herbs, bottles, labels, materials)
  • Conduct full-day inventory every two months
  • Capture photos/videos during apothecary work for marketing, seasonal promotions 
  • Respond to client emails and calls; support scheduling and invoicing
  • Process bill payments and invoices
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and energetic integrity of the apothecary space

Schedule & Time Commitment

In-person hours:
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am–1pm

Virtual hours:
5–10 hours/week (emails, client follow-up, social media)

Inventory sessions:
One full-day every two months (9am–5pm)

Initial commitment:
20–25 hours/week, with potential to expand as responsibilities grow


Practitioner Training Pathway

After a 3-month probation period and performance review, you'll have the opportunity to step into a practitioner role with training and support, including:

  • Learning our consultation structure and approach to care
  • Clinical flow, charting, and patient support
  • Microdosing consultation training (1:1 and group programs)
  • Personalized mentorship to build clinical confidence
  • Seeing your own clients and cultivating your unique practice

Over time, your schedule may shift to reflect a balance of apothecary and practitioner work, aligned with your skills and interests.


Long-Term Vision

We’re looking for someone interested in a long-term collaboration (minimum 3 years), to ensure the time invested in mentorship and training can flourish into a thriving, rooted practice.


Workshops & Community Offerings

You’ll have the opportunity to lead and co-create offerings, including:

  • One-day workshops (e.g., plant spirit work, medicine making, seasonal rituals)
  • Weekend intensives or educational series
  • Use of our existing curriculum or the freedom to create your own

Ideal Candidate

  • Certified (or nearing completion) as a Clinical or Medical Herbalist
  • Reliable transportation to our apothecary in Duncan
  • Hands-on experience in an apothecary or dispensary setting
  • Confident with formulation and materia medica
  • Organized and communicative; comfortable with email, phone, Jane app, excel and Google Drive
  • Familiarity with Instagram or openness to light content creation
  • Deep reverence for plant medicine, community healing, and sacred reciprocity
